Works > Interiors (2022-present)

After the birth of my first child in 2016, I felt trapped in our apartment, but also daunted at the idea of venturing out into the world. I became interested in the idea of home and the emotions that attend it, how shelter can also be claustrophobic, and how the chaos and mess of early childhood can also provide some sense of comfort and familiarity. Of course these feelings were only intensified by the experience of the pandemic, when we were quite literally imprisoned in our homes (which were also our safe havens from exposure to the virus). My current work explores domestic life through portraits and interior views, with an eye toward exploring this duality.
